As a part of Muhammadiyah, University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara apply “Scientific and Islamic Discourse” as the philosophy of the organization and development of higher education institutions.
The organization and development of University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara tried to integrate the Islamic values so that it can develop a personality who have science and technology, which is imbued with Islamic values.

To be a higher education that excels in building the civilization by developing science, technology and human resources in accordance to Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah’s.
Mission
To achieve its vision, University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara has missions as follows:
